How do I get started?
Once you contact me, we can schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to ensure that my approach is a good fit. Subsequent sessions are all 45 minutes and are usually scheduled one week apart. The first two sessions are typically evaluation sessions and designed to clarify therapy goals. The total number of weekly sessions varies with each individual and can range from one session to six months or more.
What is your approach?
I work with individual adults who seek short- and long-term relief from some form of anxiety or stress (e.g. worry, panic, social anxiety, overthinking). I counsel adults of all ages including many college students and young adults.
My approach employs evidence-based practices of mindfulness and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). Mindfulness can help train you to relax, resulting in a more grounded emotional and mental state. Cognitive behavior therapy can help you adopt more useful perspectives. To reinforce interpersonal awareness, I emphasize communication skills. I also utilize the teachings of Eckhart Tolle and Byron Katie to help you appreciate the present moment and reinforce a joyful, peaceful way of being.
What hours are you available?
I am available to provide counseling during regular business hours (9 AM – 5 PM).
How does payment and health insurance reimbursement work?
I accept credit cards, checks or cash. In addition, I provide “out-of-network” health insurance coverage, so I can supply you with a statement that you can submit to your insurance company; health providers typically offer partial reimbursement for mental health counseling. With out-of-network insurance, payments are still made directly to me, and your insurance company would send you any reimbursements that are covered by your plan. Please let me know if you would like me to inquire about your out-of-network therapy benefits, and I would be glad to contact your provider.
What is your cancellation policy?
Appointment times are limited and unlikely to be filled with short notice. Therefore, if you are unable to attend a session, please cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you will be charged $100 for the missed session.
